What is char cloth and why is this a good skill to know?
Char cloth is a material with a low ignition temperature. It can be made from so many different all natural materials. Good quality cotton canvas works really well. This is why we use it in our kits. Once charred it takes a spark very easily, and can be used to start your tinder bundle with little effort. There are many methods and practice will build your confidence. Take advantage of your tinder box to snuff out the ember if needed. If you light the char cloth in the tin, to put it out you just need to close the lid a wait a few minutes.

- Magnifying glass
